Absolutely not. Glue will actually block heat from flowing from the processor to the heat sink effectively insulating your processor and possibly ruining it. You always want to mount a heat sink with the provided brackets/clips and only use thermal paste (Arctic 5 is good) or a heat pad (with no glue or anything else on it) between the processor and heat sink.

Dielectric grease may be used between the heat sink and processor to improve heat transfer. Any other "glue" may form a heat barrier, or break down completely.

There are different evaluations in this subject. a million view is that to plenty thermal grease wil somewhat be undesirable for the thermal seal yet on the different hand the grease is there for a reason (to top off microscopic gaps between the cpu and fan) so utilising so little that some areas of the connecting surfaces are no longer presented isn't sturdy additionally. the main element is that it frequently works out wel as long as you're carefull and use trouble-free experience. in my opinion i tend to place a medium quantity of (non electrically conductive) grease on perfect of the cpu and spead it out with a creditcard in one in each of those way that each part of the right of the cpu is roofed with it. Then a minimum of im specific there wil be sufficient of the stuff recent. in case you place grease on the fan-bottomplate then that's tougher to unfold the grease to precisely the main surprising length because of the fact this plate is often bigger then the right of the cpu. some people place in basic terms a pea-sized dot of the grease interior the centre of the two the cpu or fanplate and anticipate that pressing the two surfaces mutually wil unfolded the grease, and that they probable are maximum surprising. this can be the savest approach in all circumstances however the question could be is it the wonderful approach. i'm undecided there. very probably you would be ok in case you do it like that. Be very carefull whilst utilising electrically (no longer in basic terms warmth) conductive grease and spreading it out with case in point a creditcard. in my opinion i in basic terms stay away from electrically conductive grease yet once you utilize that's sure it does not spill besides the right of the cpu, so use it with severe warning. whilst utilising non electrically conductive grease then spilling the grease isn't that lots of a concern however the wonderful greases are electrically conductive because of the fact they incorporate metals like silver for the wonderful warmth conductivity, yet unfortinately that still conducts electricity.

never.use themapaste as ordinary glue will create an insulator btwn the heat sink and processor hence overheating the processor and your computer will hang.

Listen to Jake F! No glue.

And, since you're new at this, you might want to get a knowledgable friend to supervise, or look for some howtos. tomshardware.com has alot of good tutorials with pictures for the uninitiated.
