Depends on the game. God of War, Final Fantasy X, and Metal Gear Snake Eater (on the PS2) look as good as any game on last gen consoles. However, the Wii is pretty much showing us Gamecube-like graphics at the moment.
That may change in time. I expect the Wii to reach graphics comparable to the original Xbox somewhere down the line, since they are similar in power.

i assume they are better because it is a next gen console.
