You could also go and order those Gundam model kits, with prices ranging from $20 (for a 1/144 scale model) to around $200+ (for a 1/60 Model Kit, though of course with the bigger size it has more articulation).
Hobby Link Japan is one of those sites where you can order Gundam Model Kits.

Tell him it's something you two can do together, like a father-son-bonding thing. Modeling is a perfectly adult hobby IMO.
