It's higher than 3%, but I don't know the exact # because it depends on exactly which Treasury bills and bonds are outstanding at the moment.

I question your blanket statement that assumes all debt is bad. In fact, many successful and profitable companies and governments have used debt financing. How do you think your local state or county builds new bridges and parks and schools? Usually by selling bonds (aka "debt")

The problems with the federal debt are:
1) it's a large% of the annual budget
2) people complain it's being spent on the wrong things.

But there are positive sides too, for example much of the debt is held by foreign companies and countries, this has the effect of keeping the dollar fromn de-valuing compared to other currencies. Since we import so much stuff, this is very important to the economy.

If the debt is too large, then why do other countries continue to invest? If those countries pulled their investment, import prices would go up - consumption would decrease and Americans would begin to buy U.S. products and less imports. Those importing countries would sell less, causing prices to increase and deficts in their own country. Those countries would be face with inflationary pressures.

Supply and Demand.

Can you compare the U.S. economy to any other economy? Just wondering who else is the largest exporter and importer in the World?

You write 3 trillion like this.
3,000000,000,000
Now multiply this with 3 and divide it by 100 and you will get
90,000000,000. and that is 90 Billion Dollars.

in accordance to Fox information McCain is working on that on the instant. yet Reuters as of final week reported that the White abode team is working for McCain on his coverage's for the financial gadget. (sorry i did no longer tag the item). So i could say a vote for McCain is a vote for Bush's financial gadget, Iraq and Iran coverage's.
