Try a pet stain/odor remover. Vinegar sometimes neutralizes odors as well. You could try baking soda (don't mix the two, or if you do just be aware that it will foam up.) Hoover makes a really good carpet stain remover too. I think your best bet is still the pet stuff. Just remember to do a spot test before you use anything on a large area to be sure you don't ruin your carpet while trying to clean it.

To remove carpet stains and odor such as those made by vomit, the newest technology uses peroxide and detergents to penetrate the soiled area to remove the stain and deactivate the odor. Simply spray a product such as Bio-OX Citrus Concentrate on the soiled area, and then allow it to penetrate for approximately five minutes. Using a clean white absorbent cloth, blot the area, pressing down firmly (do not rub) for 30 seconds. Repeat this blotting process until the area is dry. If the stain or odor persists, repeat the process. You can also try saturating the area with a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. Let it sit for a few minutes. Then, using a clean white absorbent cloth, blot the area, pressing down firmly (do not rub) for 30 seconds. Repeat this blotting process until the area is dry. If the stain or odor persists, repeat the process. Another option for cleaning carpet stains is baking soda, which can be used to eliminate surface (but not deeply penetrated) odors. Dampen the area with clean water and then sprinkle baking soda over it. Rub the baking soda into the soiled area and let dry; brush or vacuum to remove the dry material.

Hi
I would recommended cleaning your carpets and using a disinfectant like Milgo SR (may need to go to a janitorial supply store for this and ask for a disinfectant for carpet) and put it in the rinse water. Deodorizers just cover up the smell for a while and disinfectant kill bacteria in the carpet.
Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet

I've found that Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom foam cleaner makes an excellent carpet cleaner. I've never had it hurt my carpet, but I can't say that it won't, though, since it's not marketed as a carpet cleaner. It works wonderfully at getting out smelly stains.
After I spray stains with bathroom cleaner, I let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub it with a old rag and a container of hot water and a bit of dish soap. Then I rinse it with water to get the soap residue out. Afterward, I spray the area with Febreeze, and you would never know that something nasty happened there!
Hope this helps...

First clean the puke up as much as you can then when it dries, put Baking Soda on the carpet and kinda rub it around then leave it for 24 hrs. vacuum it up and the smell should be gone.If there is still any left over odor, use some Lysol.
