I heard you have to pass water through the nose and let it run down your throat.

The technique is called "a nasal wash," and it involves tilting the head sideways over a sink, and pouring a small amount of warm water with a bit of salt in it through the upper nostril, allowing the water to flow through the nasal cavity, draining out the lower nostril. Then you turn your head the other way, and repeat by pouring water in the other nostril.

This procedure really works to unclog stuffy noses and sinuses. I have turned a couple friends onto it in the past few years.

In ayurvedic medicine, this is called a "neti" wash. Rather than use a neti pot, you can use one of those small rubber ear bulb syringes--they hold the perfect amount for this use. You can see what I'm talking about here: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=77706&catid=50309&trx=PLST-0-CLOSE-MATCHES&trxp1=50309&trxp2=77706&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-CLOSE-MATCHES

Do not allow yourself to be fooled into thinking you have to buy special equipment or solutions. I noticed online that there are a lot of people selling neti equipment at inflated prices. All you need is 1 cup warm water, 1 tsp non-iodized salt, and a syringe to gently squirt the water into your nostril.

Neither of the above are true. Get yourself some saline wash from the pharmacy and spray it up your nose. It will help to clear your nasal passages. Spray it up there as you breathe in, then blow your nose.

Just buy normal saline spray at your pharmacy, works the same and clears your nasal passages.

I heard this works well. You have to breath water into your nose and blow it out the same way.
