Every so often, sex hurts. It has become more frequent lately. The kind of pain feels like he's hitting something and the pain goes from the part that gets hit and i sometimes feel it up to where the pubic area starts. It hurts so bad that he has to stop for a second. What could this be?

This could be a sign of many problems. It could be as simple as a large penis vs smaller vagina. On the other hand, it could be a serious cause for concern. There are many female reproductive issues that can cause painful sex.

Also, the fact this happened once may have made it a constant for you. Because it hurt that one time, in the back of your head you may always be thinking "well what if it happens this time" and then your muscles tense up causing pain.

I myself had this problem and FINALLY decided, after a year of pain, to talk to my gyno about it. A month ago I had surgery and found out I had endometriosis. They removed alot of it, but some parts couldnt be removed because of the location. It has actually helped quite a bit with my sex life, but not completely. In a month I'm to start taking monthly shots for about 6 months to see if it'll help.

So......... my suggestion would be to talk to your doctor sooner rather than later. Don't let it ruin your sex life. There's help out there. :)

Does he have quite a large penis? It is possible that the end of his penis is hitting your cervix (the opening to your uterus). Do you have a small body frame? I knew a couple once and the guy was quite large in that area and the girl was very small all over and they encountered that problem. You might need to get an internal exam done by your doctor which won't hurt nearly as much as the painful sex you describe.

It sounds like he's hitting your cervix which is not a big deal and happens a lot. The fact that it hurts is the issue. You may have an infection causing your cervix to be inflamed and sensitive. It also might be from HPV ( a very very common virus) that can cause abnormal cells on your cervix. If they catch it early, they can correct it, so please go see your doctor.

Has this been going on since you started having sex? It is very painful for my wife to have intercourse. The doctors could not figure out why this was happening and told her it was in her head. We just found out it was a symptom called vaginismus. The mussels contract on their own do to something in her subconscious. If this sound like your problem, check out Vaginismus.com for more information.
