if you are looking for information about program "Spybot Search and Destroy", it is popular antispyware. you can find review and features here:

however, if you don't have this program installed and you've noticed a running process called "spybot", be carefull. it it spyware and can be removed by these instructions:

you may ask why are they called almost the same. it is to trick people, because if you find a file that is called like your security program, you won't think it's malicious. there are more parasites named similar like antispyware or antivirus. for example there is a great antispyware "spyware doctor" and a parasite called "system doctor".

My personal friend out of Germany designed Spybot Search & Destroy with the help of his university students out of Germany.
I would not recommend as there are alot better free software to catch spyware, adware and malware.
Here are some free links that I use that are excellent.
http://www.grisoft.com Download their free AVG anti spyware.
http://www.lavasoft.com Download thier free home for personal use Ad-adware Se Personal. This company is out of Sweden and has been around long before anybody ever thought of spyware.
http://www.superantispyware.com Download their free version. This program usually finds what all other miss.
http://www.emsisoft.com Download their free version of A2Squared Malware.
With the exception of Ad-Aware Se Personal, all the other programs scan all 281,000 plus objects in my system.

SpyBot is the name of an anti-malware tool, that finds the spy-ware, and allows you to delete it.
However, SpyBot is not the BEST such tool.
