Thanks for you answer. I guess I was wrong. I got confused when she said he was on a break when he wasn't I accidently told the customer he was in the bathroom. I guess I was to honest. At least all your answer justify her saying that is not good to say that. I have conformation thank. This the first time I saying bathroom. I didn't realize it was bad. I always say break or busy or lunch. I appreicated your honest answer.

It wouldn't bother me. Everyone has to go eventually, but some people are touchy about stuff like that so just say that they will be with them in just a moment.

Your boss is actually right!
It's best to say that the sales person has step out for a minute and Will be back in a few minutes.

No, it is not professional to tell a customer that the sales person is in the bathroom.

Instead, just tell the customer that "The sales person steped out for a couple minutes. Is there anything that I can help you with?"

No it is not professional. The customer should be told that the salesperson is unavailable and will be with them momentarily. If you say this the customer will understand. Everyone doesn't want everyone else to know when they are in the restroom

Basically its hard for a customer to take a sales person seriously when they are imagining them hunched over a crap covered toilet trying to squeeze out a turd. Keep the images that you convey to the customer professional.

Nope - it's not professional. You can just say the sales person is busy at the moment, but will be right with them.
