In California and New York, I have seen white, Asian, and black Santa's. But the first Santa was Saint Nicolas. However, the first American Santa was white; he was invented by the Coke Company for their ad campaign.

Because Santa Claus is not real. If you're not real you cannot be black or white.

Actually, it's because when the "Santa" thing started, blacks had no freedom and weren't considered people. That's the way people remembered Santa and nobody's changed it sense. I once saw a santa doll that was black...

Actually, Santa is based on a bishop in what is now Turkey. This makes him Eurasian. So, if I understand correctly, he was more olive-skinned than either White or Black.

And by the way....why make an issue of this?

and now i hear this kind of a question.....
santa was probably made up of by a white person so thats probably y he's not black. africans dont know about santa claus.

and jesus was a jew so that explains why he's white.

Ask the coca-cola company, i heard they invented the image of santa claus, i don't know how true that is. Hmmm, why can't he be Asian?

because santa doesn't exist and those who produce any sorts of santa are in it for money and not the spirt of what christmas stands for .
