It does but doesn't have to. My son who just turned 6 yesterday has grown up getting to watch South Park, the Simpsons, Family Guy and the News. When he watches TV or does things over the internet we watch what he does and talk with him about everything he sees. If you talk to your kids and support what they are learning with positive understanding and an explanation of the differences between what is funny to do and what is funny to think about but not do because of the harm it would cause, what are the real outcomes of violent actions and how people really react to them and why people in the world make the decisions that they do and help him develop an understanding of the fact that there is a lot of grey out there when it comes to right and wrong and how to deal with this your child has a better chance of dealing with these things and what they are seeing as negatives and violence becomes topics to expand upon. I don't expect him to grasp everything by any means, but some of it sinks in right away, some hopefully are building a good foundation for the future and he at least learns that he can talk to his parents about big issues.

I would like to think that we are not soo weak to be blinded by things we see.I would like to think that good still exsits because some of us refuse to give up on morals and values. I just feel the cost of living a productive life is so high and also because many men and women have dropped the ball in their household forcing their spouse or significant other to be a single parent. That sometimes children are being raised by the tv because their parent needs to work late to make ends meat.Forced to allow the evils of society to raise and manipulate them because they want to be loved and paid attention to. It's turning in to a never ending cycle because the same kids end up starting early disfunctional families. They continue learned behavior whether it's right or wrong it becomes a thing of what ever helps you survive.

Yes, I really do. I think our addiction to violence in the media is one reason that we have become more callous to the suffering of other. Ever since Sept. 11 I have been pretty repulsed by gratuitous violence in the media and activily avoid it.
