I must have tried to give my resume to at least 10 places trying to get a part- time job and still have not been able to get a job. Are there any other people who have found it so hard to get a job and why is it so hard?

It's all about how you present your Cv. If you want, I can have a look over it and make some changes, that may help.
I have worked for a few years now, for an employment agency, over here in the Uk. We get a number of people, who have used such a service as ours, as we have the right contacts to get you into a company. Do you have Employment Agencies in America.
Other than that, If you want to sell yourself into getting a job. Do not post or email your CV, but instead, go in your best suit, to the company you want to work for. Ask to speak to someone dealing with recruitmen and give him your CV.
Believe it or not, this will impress an employer more than posting in a CV.

It depends on how you present your resume. If its good, you're in. Make sure you show how well qualified you are for the job without overdoing it.
Also, persistance, call and ask if they got it, and if they have any questions. And if its a store, show up there to show your dedication, that's the key that most places look for in a prospective employee.
