If you mean log onto the router to handle all the management it is very simple to reset to the original default password.

1. Disconnect any ethernet lines (safety precaution only)

2. Find the recessed reset button on the back near the ports.

3 press and hold for a minimum of 10 secs as it varies by brand how long you need to hold it.

4. Reconnect everything, open up IE or Firefox and type 192168.0.1 for a D-Link and enter admin as the user and nothing for password or 192.168.1.1 for a Linksys and use admin as the password with no username. As for other brands I do not know the defaults, but you should be able to find that in the Tech support pages of the manufacturer's website.

If you have issues accessing the management interface from a wireless PC, some routers require a machine to be connected via ethernet cable to acess manaeet funcion.

Also, you may need to pull the power cords ofa able modem andte outr if you lose ineret connectivy. Plug in the cable modem first and th rouer aftrthe modemreconnects tothe cable connection. (This also works as a fix for occasional connectioin issues.)

Good luck. These tricks help me every time I forget my password or the router and cable modem hve true communicating.

Well that is quite a big possibility of that happening. once I was on the suffering side as well. Changing the password is the best option. But before you do that, you have an option in the wireless router to see the devices that are connected to the router. That will give you an idea of how many devices are connected at a given time. And after changind the password, no computer will be able to connect until they retype in the new password again( not even you.. you need to change the password on your computer as well after you change the password on the router.) that will help you out and also dont keep any comman passwords.

If you look at the rear of your router (where the ports are) you might see a small hole with the word "Reset" embossed in the plastic beneath it. This will be true for Dell routers for instance.

If you find this on your router, you can use a pin or something similar to press and hold the small button inside the hole for about a minute. After that, the router should be reset to its default configuration including the login name/password. You can then get these from your manual or the product website. Usually its something like: Login: admin and password: password.

Good luck,

****UPDATE****
You simply have to update your firmware (optional) or use FireFox to access it. IE must have run into an improper protocol.
It should work.
