I remember it well. I was home watching tv the night that I heard that hip hop died. That was the night that Jam Master Jay was shot and killed. I miss you Jay. I'm tipping a 40 for you right now.

I remember when it was born in the mid 1980s. I worked in Manhattan, and when I walked home, I had to go passed Times Square. There were a group of kids there who were performing for the tourist. I talked to one of the performers and he said the group was from the South Bronx and they performed in Times Square to make money. They danced and sang hip hop style beat. Soon after Run DMC and Public Enemy started to get press.

hip hip never died and it will always live on forever and as for rock music well huh it really died and no one wants to listen to that trash music, long live hip hop and will always stay alive hands down

Left my room for 1 minute, i come back and hear the "chicken noodle soup" song on. I watched the video for probably 10 seconds before I realized hip hop was damaged beyond all repair.
