I don't quite understand ... this should not be an either-or question. I think that both are necessary to people in general. We have to experience one to understand the other ... and to understand why they are not one in the same.

Well, it looks like you might be asking if people would rather go for love or lust in finding a partner, so I guess I'm interpresting the question as "If you could pick anyone to be your parter, would you go for the person most sexually appealing to you, or pick ther person that you would love, even if they were not as sensual?"

I'd pick love. I think that if you could somehow actually find someone that you would LOVE, it wouldn't matter how sexually appealing they would be at first. Sure if decided on the most gorgeous woman I ever saw I would have "fun" at first, but it woudln't last. Lust is fickle and changes with the moment. If I chose lust I'd probably find out in a few days that I had really meant to pick some other sexually appealing woman, and another the day after that.

Lust never gives contentment. It doesn't even promise to. Lust is like a ruined attempt to bundle all of what love gives, into a short time, and without the actual love. It promises happiness, passion, and contentment, but it only gives the first two for a short while, and never gives contentment. For anyone who's a one-night stand, you know what I'm talking about. At first it's fun, and the feeling of having someone with you gives you a small taste of what love is like, but the morning and days and weeks after, you feel empty when you remember it, because that feeling of love isn't there any more. You can try to continually follow lust so that you never feel the emptiness when it is over, but sooner or later it will catch up with you, and you will realize that what you were really looknig for was love. I know this sounds a lot like a movie or a sermon or whatever, but sometimes when people find out something that is true they like to spread it around, especially those people who have found love.

I myself am still looking for Love, so I can't speak about exactly how much better is is than Lust, but I know people who are in love, and even by what I can see without experiencing it I know that Love gives a deeper happiness than Lust could ever do. So, If I had the choice I would chose a person I loved, even if I could spend the rest of my life with the prepetual object of my lust.

Lust is just the sexual drive or instinct looking to get satified. Love has more to do with giving and thinking more of your partner than yourself.
