Starting out, the two called themselves West End, because of their love of London's West End, but later they came up with the name Pet Shop Boys, a name derived from some friends who worked in a pet shop in Ealing. They said that Pet Shop Boys "sounded like an English rap group".

Contrary to popular belife, they did NOT derive the name from a sexual game involving a tube and a hamster.
One of them (or possibly both of them) worked in a pet shop, that's all.

I do not know but they have sung kinda okay songs, well some of them, but I do not like them in general. They do not have a very good voice.
