Our hands grow as we age. However, this age I am referring is the age that we; human grows. Normally for men, at age of about 22, he should stop growing physically. Likewise for women at the age of about 19.
The bone bang period is the time before 22 for male and 19 for female. The bone bang period is the time whereby your body absorbs the most calcium. So, the bone on our hand grows at that period of time. After that period, the body absorbs lesser calcium and the body also do not secrete growth hormones. So, the calcium absorbed is used for daily usage such as signals for muscle movement, osteoclast....
If you are talking about grow in terms of muscle or fats, then you are right on the labour work. As we work, we are "training" our muscle. So, the muscle becomes thicker and "grows harder".
Hope I help answered your question.

if i am not mistaken, just like everyother part of the body, they stop to grow at a certain age wcich is not the same for every human being, either that or they just grow very slowly once we reach a certain age, to the point where we barely notice it
