I have a new computer with work on it that i can not lose because it is extremely important. How do i get it to start properly but still not lose the work..if i use safe mode can i back it up onto a CD or something like that?

You mean your computer doesn't post? That could be a bios problem, internal battery is dead, or your motherboard is malfunctioning. Try to reset your cmos.

To backup, just like a previous post said to hook up your HDD to another computer as a slave and backup the important files to another media.

The question is, does it ever come back?

If it will boot into safe mode, you should be able to copy files to a CD or a thumb drive. Even if it will not boot Windows at all, it may be possible to install the drive in another PC and copy the files.

remove the Hard disk, take it to a freinds place connect it as a Slave or on its own IDE you can browse the disk and copy files if the disk hasnt failed

Sounds Like you have made a change Re Connect the drive to ide 1 remove all cards from slots except vid card


Or try some new ram
