The router is a NETGEAR WGR614, and I am trying to connect it to my computer to allow the internet to be used by a laptop. I had it working at one time but unplugged it (teenagers). I am now trying one more time but cannot find the instruction booklet and for the life of me can't remember how to re-connect the thing. It is only a blue wire and a yellow wire. I have switched them around so much that I have completely gone mad. So if someone out there can help me I would appreciate it.

Very easy I have a couple of them. First power off your DSL modem, your router and your PC.

Connect an Ethernet patch cable from the LAN/WAN port on the back of the DSL modem into the WAN port of the router. Connect another Ethernet cable from a LAN port on the hub portion of the router to your NIC on your system. Power up the modem and wait for the modem to train and the Link light comes on. Get a paper clip ready and power up the wireless router right underneath the antenna there is a small reset button. Push that in and hold for 10 secs, now the router will reboot and return to factory settings. The username is Admin and the password is password. Once the router is up the 5th light from the bottom is on, the Internet Connection light. That should be on along with the top light (power) and the wireless radio light (2nd down from the top). Now power up your PC. Once it boots up open up a browser and type in 192.168.1.1 that is the IP address of the router. Login and set up the settings for the DHCP server, enter the SSID for the wireless radio. Configure your network settings on the lap top for Automatic IP addressing (DHCP client) and set the SSID to the same as the wirless router. I like to establish connectivity first with the Internet then go back and set up the wireless security settings on the router and wireless PC card...

i'm wondered... on your first fact you assert you've a internet equipment router, then you actually opt to connect with a linksys router wirelessly. in accordance to the Linksys website, you ought to no longer have any concern utilizing the Linksys voip router for a instantaneous connection.. you ought to wish to do a firmware replace. i won't be able to see the position the netgear router comes into the photo. All that you ought to wish is the modem, the router and your pcs... and may don't have any concern with some thing instantaneous.. as long as you enter the protection key ... that i'm constructive you've placed on your router... reliable success

from the wallplate to the DSL modem with the phone cable. then from the "LAN" connector (using the blue wire, looks like the phone cable but bigger) to the "LAN" port on the router. if necessary, you might want to connect a computer directly from the router to it, just in case the the router settings had changed and need to be re-set.
