Here is the deal, my friend sent me a chain e-mail with a picture of a little baby attached. And the message said that the kid is dying of cancer and that they need the money for the operation, and that for every person that you forward the e-mail to yahoo will give the kids family 50 cents. I've told my friend that there's no chance that this is true. So is it? Thanks in advance, cheers!

That's a classic hoax. There is no way for Yahoo, or anyone else, to verify how many times that email is forwarded.. What I want to know is why someone would start something like that?!

Here's a link to some more information on that type of hoax..

As for it having a virus, it would have to come with an attachment to have any chance of that..

Think about it this way, if yahoo wanted to send a chain email, don't you think they could easily just send one to everyone with a registered yahoo email address all by themselves?

These are false email. They are sent to collect email address to spam. If you look at the email you have received, it contains lot of email address. If this email would have been received by someone who send spam email, they will be very happy to recive all these valid email address.
