I haven't started my period and I took 2 HPTs tonight and both came back positive. I always thought the serum test was faster. Why didn't it pick it up and the HPT did? Which should I trust?

What is a serum test?? Was this the blood test your Dr. sent you for? If the HPT's are coming back positive, call you Dr. back and tell him/her that you're getting positive results on the HPT's and you want another test at the office. And congratulations :) ! I would trust the HPT's they wouldn't be detecting the pregnancy hormone (hcg) if it wasn't present adn it wouldn't be present if you weren't pregnant. !

This happened to my sister not too long ago...and by that, I mean last week! She took 5 pregnancy tests, 2 of which said she was pregnant, 1 of them being the infamous EPT test. There is no way to tell if you are really pregnant unless you go and get a blood test from your doctor. If he/she wants to do a urine test, strongly voice your opinion for the blood test. It is the only test that is 100% accurate in determining pregnancy! Good Luck!

not familiar with the serum test. But if 2 HPT say you're pregnant, you're pregnant. Verify with doctor.

Serum test? I thought the serum test was when you drank that nasty stuff and they tested for diabetes. Do you just mean a blood test?

That's...more interesting than the usual sort of "Am I pregnant?" question here...

All you can do is go back to your doctor and ask for a second blood test.
