The shower curtain from my dorm is annoying. I think it's just the lining for a curtain. Anyway, it's beige and vinyl, I think. Everytime I take a shower, it billows out into the tub, so I have to keep pushing it back. How can I get it to stop?

Some shower curtains have small suction cups built in to them. Check Target but don't go for the cheapest - they are a little more money and made out of something heavier than those cheaper ones.

The rush of air that the hot water creates causes the curtain to rise toward the inside of the tub and consequently to you. Some how you have to hold the bottom of the curtain down. A heavy curtain of a different material might work. Weights or magnets will work only if you can make them work on the tub or shower receptor. Talk to maintenance or the house mother,I'm sure their aware of the problem.

Simple Dude,
Leave both sides of the curtain away from the walls and the in rush of air has somewhere else to go beside forcing the curtain towards you. New tubs are plastic so magnets wont help. Unless you're a totally sloppy bather the water that goes around the side of the curtain will be dry before you are. You can do this with one or both sides.

Moisten the wall of the tub all the way across and press the shower curtain against it, pulling downward as you "glue" it to the tub. The curtain will still billow, but it should not touch you.

Some liners have magnets on the bottom to prevent this. If yours doesn't buy a couple of button magnets or some magnetic tape from a craft store (or cut up a cheap fridge magnet) and glue them to the bottom of the liner, the side facing the wall of the tub. Of course, this will only work if you have a cast iron tub. You should check whether it is magnetic by using a refrigerator magnet first.

keep the curtain oppen a bit at both ends. steam rises causing cooler air to enter from below, when the curtain sticks to the tub the ballooning effect is thus created
