I just entered "stupid questions" in the Search for Questions box (above), and got 131,907 results... Some individuals ask the same question over and over, either to rile people up, or maybe looking for an answer thay can be satisfied with (validation?). Many are posted by kids/students taking tests: they need answers fast, but slept through the research skills part of their education. And/or they're supremely lazy. And/or they only have several seconds before the proctor notices they're cheating. I also suspect that some people feel they "own" the response if the question comes from them... and ownership is so, so key in our culture.
