Workable suggestion used in production of The Crucible:
Try gutting an old, beat up piano, cutting out the sound board with a sawsall (with the wires attached,) and "playing" the exposed wires, with different tools such as screwdrivers, kitchen knives, putty spreaders. This will give excellent wierd atmospheric sounds (the Witches- Graymalkin) The sound board can be hammered on and drummed with great ferocity to simulate the battle sounds. Use rubber mallets, wood drum sticks.
Experiment!

Look up the name "Nigel Westlake" or the "Bell Shakespeare Company, Macbeth, 1994 production".

You'll get great music there.

I wish I could help you, but it would be bad luck, since you used the name of the play instead of saying "the Scottish tragedy." :)
