Yes, the movie was called "The Year Without A Santa Claus", the character's were Heat Miser and Cold Miser, the sons of Mother Nature.

Yes, Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. It was also covered by Dixie Chicks and Smashing Pumpkins. The Dixie Chicks version is absolutely horrendous, and the Smashing Pumpkins version is one of my favourite songs and the best version of that song.
