If its an upper respiratory like sneezing and crusty eyes and nose. you can get antibiotics at the pet store in the fish department. It comes in capsules with powder inside, open the powder and mix in with wet food. ampicillin I got my cat at a animal rescue place and they don't have a lot of money to take care of all the animals so that was what they used and they said it was the same thing. It worked on my kitten and I have never done it again though I would much rather have them see the vet but if you don't have the money. mine was a kitten and I gave her one capsule in the morn and one at night for a week.

Cats do indeed get colds. They usually call it upper respiratory infection, but they are pretty much the same thing.
I recently had a cat that had a very severe cold. She had to be taken to the vet. She stayed for a couple of days because she was severely dehydrated.
He told me that cats colds are like humans. When a human just has a normal cold, antibiotics don't help. Antibiotics really don't cure it, but it does help them from getting worse and it going into their lungs and getting pneumonia.
He said that as long as they are eating and especially drinking that they will probably get over it on their own. But, if they are not eating and drinking you've got to get them to a vet to get some antiobiotics.
If you don't have money, ask if you can possibly give them a post dated check or pay it out. some will help you.
One more thing, if you have more than one cat, keep them apart. Colds are highly contagious to other cats, but cat colds are not contagious to humans.

if your cat is having a hard time breathing has runny eyes and nose. you can put them in the bathroom with the shower on hot and get the bathroom steamy and leave the cat in for about 20 min. this will help to loosen things up a bit. take a warm wash cloth to eyes and nose to loosen the goop. this is only a quick fix. but will help for a few days. if you have a humidifier you can do the same thing. hope this works and good luck

I wish Sarah would grow up and act like an American, you must be from Ohio where they hold the record in USA for bitching the most. Grow up and act like an American, Sarah.
