Yes, just make sure it's a reasonable sized tank so they are not in each other's space all the time.

Also, it will depend somewhat on your individual betta fish. It could be really aggressive, or it could be docile (well...at least as docile as a betta fish can get). If it's a female you won't have many problems.

You can, as long as your tank is larger than five gallons. Keep in mind, though, that bettas are aggressive, and your fish may attack the algae eater. Make sure you have a place in your tank where the algae eater can hide from the betta if it needs to--decorative plastic rock formations are great for that. You should also consider getting a filtration system for the tank if you don't have one already--a pump connected to an air stone will help add oxygen to the water, and even though bettas don't necessarily need it, I've noticed that they tend to be more active when their tanks have filtration systems.

We had a betta, 3 algae eaters, a shark and several other varieties of fish. Bettas are not the fastest fish in the tank, but algae eaters are very fast swimmers and generally can outswim any other fish in the tank, especially if they are small enough to hide in smaller places than the larger fish can fit into. We are planning on getting more algae eaters. Ours died of old age, outliving the bettas.

In my experience yes you can. Make sure you have a decent size tank for the two of them. You need 1 gal of water per inch of fish. I wouldn't mix any other fish though because the beta could kill them or the other fish kill the beta. Good Luck!

Yes you can put them both in the same tank. Algae eaters won't mess with other fish.

Of course, a betta can go in with ALMOST any other aquarium fish, like others said, you need a big tank, not because of the fish, just because you DO need one to keep 2 fish in. The only fish bettas may kill is guppies because they may mistake them for other bettas because the males vibrant fins, or other big finned fish. Two females can be kept together in a tank bigger than 5 gallons, I have two in my 44 gallon tank (note, FEMALE)... and I jsut moved one male to my 29, and he only fights I think because some bother him, because they are hungry they bite his fins DD=

Algae Eaters With Betta

Yes. I've done it many times. If the aglae eater is too big to fit in the betta's mouth you should be fine. In my experience bettas only fight each other and will only try to eat fish much smaller than themselves.

Beta fish tend to kill other fish in the same tank as them, but it might be alright if you have a large enough tank.
