Black - e.g Tiger Woods, Alicia Keys, etc. My view on the matter s that I identify people how they wish to be identified and will not place a label on someone unless they themselves choose that label. Halle Berry and Thandi Newton identifies themselves as Black and I therefore see them as such.

I ask as I have visited a website called Internix and quite a lot of the people there are really peeved to be referred to solely as Black and want all parts of their heritage acknowledged but American society seems to like to pigeon hole people into specific boxes for some reason...
Is this the remnants of the one drop rule??

Because they look more "Black" then White, I've seen Black people with Black parents and grandparents etc... that look similar to Halle, Alicia and Thandi. Thandi mother is from Zimbabwe so she might have a more strong culture connection with her Black side. Also it's because of the one drop rule that you mentioned, back then White society didn't want any Black person to reap the benefits of White privilege even if they are half Caucasian, so that might be the case still today.

think of Mariah would desire to nicely be tremendously plenty ideal. First time a black or colored or regardless of you're allowed to assert, runs for the workplace, all those of an analogous vein prove to vote for him (no longer that super a landslide nevertheless) the two i'm particular that if Palin have been the candidate incredibly than vice president all the girls might have voted for her. To be honest, we are all blended nationalities, even back to prehistoric situations whilst the favorite people copulated with the Neanderthals. a guy is a guy so enable him get on with it !

It is the old trap of putting people in broad categories. From what I know, people in the USA do tend to classify blacks based on skin tone and features. From what I have read, if someone can "pass for white" then others see them as white if no one knows. But, Black people sometimes do not like lighter skinned black people. It is a mess.

America is a deeply racist society and frankly why black people choose to remain there beats me. From Tyson(trumped up charge, Jackson, Trumped up charge, OJ Simpson, even when found not guilty in court still garbage about him, James Brown put in prison for no reason, Janet Jackson showed a tit on TV and the insults. If that was a white girl they would have full pages of paper praising her ****.

Even when all the evidence is shown and the person is acquitted, the press still hound them and are allowed to hound them.

I think the old mentality is still there, but slowly going away. My daughter is bi-racial so I check both black and white off on forms that ask for race.

based on personal knowledge of what i refer to them as, i would have to say: bi-racial, multi-racial or mixed. i wouldn't mind refering to there race as just black or white etc. but personally i think it's easier and better to just say mixed, because thats what they are!!!
p.s and yes i would have to say it's a remnant of that rule. many people still belioeve that if you have a drop of black in you then that makes you officially black, like black hispanics, but thats not true, thats racist.

Its how they like to be referred to. I think it is because they think being "black" is a hindrance and they have achieved so much, something to be proud of.
