If I ovulated on the 31st and had sex on the 8th, got my period on the 15th....is there any chance I am pregnant?
Don't eggs only survive 24-48 hours, leaving enough of a time frame for it to disintregate into the uterine lining? Also, women only ovulate once per cycle. Last time I asked this question everyone answered YES you can get pregnant. How? Am I pregnant?

I heard fraternal twins are a matter of two eggs being released within a 24 hour time period?

Are you saying that you ovulated on October 31 and, had sex on November 8? If that is your timeline, the answer is: no, you could not get pregnant from your sex on the 8th. (Whether you got your period on November 15 or October 15, which I also can't tell from your question.)
Are you saying that you ovulated on October 31 and had sex on October 8? Again, the answer would be no, you could not have gotten pregnant. (Again, that answer is the same whether you got your period on October 15 or November 15.)
Why do you say you ovulated on the 31st? Virtually all methods of calculating ovulation simply provide guesses -- good guesses, sometimes great guesses, but it's an estimate. Unless you were using ultrasound technology to see precisely when an egg was released, you can't be sure of the exact time of ovulation. Ovulation Predictor Kits aren't always accurate, basal body temperature doesn't necessarily rise immediately following ovulation (some women don't see an increased temp for a few days after ovulation), cervical fluids can be tricky, etc.
Eggs can survive for UP TO 24 hours. For conception to occur, ideally, sperm is already waiting for the egg to be released. In the right environment, sperm can live for as long as 5 days (although 3 days is a safer bet). So if you had sex on the 8th and ovulated on the 31st the sperm would be long gone. If you had sex on the 8th of the following month -- 8 days AFTER you ovulated -- the egg would be long gone.
In either event, the fact that you bled would suggest you weren't pregnant. Despite people saying "you can get your period when you're pregnant" -- you can't. You may bleed, and it may appear to be a period, but it is not, in fact, a period -- a period is when the uterine lining sheds because of the absence of pregnancy. So yes, some women bleed during pregnancy, and that bleeding may occur at or around the time they would have expected a period, but, that bleeding is NOT a period.
I'm not sure why everyone said "yes you can get pregnant" if you asked this before -- from the timeline you gave, it's not possible...unless you had sex sometime other than the 8th --did you?
Also, as to fraternal twins: that occurs when a woman releases more than one egg during ovulation. Often this happens when both ovaries release eggs in a cycle.

You can be pregnant in theory, its uncommon but it can happen.
You will not always ovulate on the same day every single cycle. Once in a while your body will produce the hormone surge at an off time and you will ovulate.
If this happens near your period, the egg is still in the fallopian tube for the duration of the period, and you can get pregnant if you had sex right before it started. The egg is only viable for 24-36 hours, but they take about 5 days, give or take, to reach the uterus to either be passed, or implant if fertalized.
Also, once in a great while, you can ovulate while ON your period, and get pregnant that way. I currently am just shy of nine months from such a thing.
Once in a while you can have a period or a couple of periods when you first get pregnant, theyre not full periods that shed your uterine lining, but old blood or parts of the lining that are not taken up by the pregnancy. Its insanely uncommon to have a full on period an be pregnant. Generally its a sign of an early miscarriage.
But those are not typical situations.
Generally the cycle is the same each month, you thicken your uterine lining, the egg is released, it moves to the uterus, and you either have a pregnancy, or shed the lining and it begins again.
If for some reason you THINK you may be pregnant, take a test. But its highly unlikely if you have had your period.

how do you know you Ovulated on the 31st for sure? I myself can tell when i ovulate but most woman can not. You could not ovulate on the 31st and be pregnant if you only had sex on the 8th. did you have it any time before you ovulated that would be the question as the sperm can live in your body for 24 -48 hrs. and if you got your period chances are you are not pregnant. There is a small percent of woman that do however still have there period through out there pregnancy. Some get one or two light ones others get them all the way through, the web site about will help you out...

well it takes almost 2 weeks for hcg which is a hormone to show up in the urine to show up positive for a pregnancy test. and any woman can have a period when they first get pregnant and some woman have more than one period while they are pregnant. There is always a chance you can be pregnant and have a period. the best way to find out if you are pregnant is to test but it is possible that you are. i know this sounds like your question is still unanwered but i dont the exact reason why you can be pregnant i just know i have had 3 kids and had a period with one of them the next day after i had sex so anything is possible if you are trying to get pregnant i wish you good luck.

I would say no since you got your period... but in the case of fraternal twins you can ovulate like 2 days apart... but if you are on your period then it wouldn't have taken.
take a test just to make yourself feel better it would show
