Not all anti-federalists were against the idea of the Constitution. Some, like Thomas Jefferson, wanted a guarantee of individual rights. Many of the Federalists were against this, feeling that the states all had their own bills of rights, and that should suffice, but they ultimately gave in, recognizing that this would allow them to get the US Constitution ratified and put into effect.

The antifederalist realised that any centralisation of government was extremely dangerous. They knew that a charcteristic of all governments was to expand so wanted to limit the power of government in everyway possible.

I would say that they wanted to guarantee basic rights to everyone in every state rather than rights being so widely diverse state to state.
