I feel bad because i he has already bought his present for x-mas for me and i know i would feel really bad for being broken up with a week before christmas but i dont think i can wait any longer because being affectionate with him really brings me down... my friends tell me to wait a month or so and then decide if i still like him but i dont know if i can, when should i do it?

No time is a good time when it comes to breaking up with someone. If you are serious about breaking up, then do it and get it over with. He should be able to return the gift to the place of purchase. If not, why worry about it if you don't care about him anymore? He'll probably hurt whether you do it before Christmas or if you accept the gift and then do it after Christmas, but then, you should return the gift to him. Why are you still being affectionate with him if you don't feel like you used to about him? That's leading him on, don't you think? You have to make up your mind one way or another and stick with your decision. Both then need to move on.

I think you should see it like this, new year...new beginning! If you feel (deep down) that its the best thing for you...then go for it! I hate to tell you this...but either way you're going to feel bad about it because of the holidays, because he already purchase a gift for you and if you feel that he likes you...but you have to go with your heart. If your heart is no longer in it, then maybe its time to let go. He'll understand. Might be hurt for a little bit but if he truly cares for you, he'll understand.

You should do it as soon as possible, holidays or not. It's not fair to either of you to drag it out into the new year.

you should end it now it is not fair to you or him to live a lie.
Trust me i am going trough the same but i am on the recieving end of been told it is not working.
It will be hard on him but it is the right thing to do
