The Christmas spirit is what is in you; it is determined by you not the rest of the world; don't let the world dictate to you how to celebrate the birth of Jesus; start or continue a family tradition; a tradition can start with you; you are not so helpless or hopeless; an idea starts with one and then multiplies; we saw that it was getting too much and started a secret santa to buy just one gift per person so it didn't become excessive; you have to be the one to step up and say enough is enough; bring back prayer to the dinner table; help others ; my Christmas wish this year is to have all my adult children attend Mass to give thanks; believe me it wasn't popular to suggest it and try to give positive persuasion but my family just went through a medical crisis with my 29 year old son ; our eyes are wide open; it is not the presents, it is that we have our health, family , friends and love; you can't box it or wrap it with a bow but you can take it everwhere you go. Merry Christmas !!

I think I started having a problem with my Christmas spirit when I saw Santa Claus merchandise replacing the garden section at Walmart before Labor Day. Seriously, the commercial side of Christmas is shoved at us so much that it can make anyone lose the spirit....
I have re-gained a bit though by making Christmas candy and baking cookies. I have three kids in daycare and elementary school, so lots of teachers gifts. It helps to have little ones that ALL still believe in Santa getting excited about the gifts they can help make for the people that care for them.

well christmas is becoming more of a tradition of buying more presents. That's why many people get scared when christmas arrives because of all the presents they "have" to buy. It's really sad, because it was a really cool holiday(If you go by the actual story and not just St. Nick's/Santa Claus) . Working in retal for 3 years made me realize how mean and rude people can get during the holidays. ESPECIALLY on Black friday...we had to call the an ambulence because when we opened the doors to our store (kohls) some parents stepped on some kids while rushing to get the Early Bird sales...
P.S. I'm not even Christian.

Christmas is a joyous celebration about Christians destroying the cultural identity of Pagan groups. The complete and utter destruction of these Pagan people has formed the backbone of this "holiday".
Everything from the placement of the holiday, down to the decorated tree that people call a "Christmas Tree"... it's all just a bastardization of pagan beliefs.
Do I lack Christmas Spirit? Hell yeah. Do I despise Christmas? Without a doubt. Will I have anything to do with the "holiday"? Not on your life.

You are kind of right... I mean there isn't a Christmas spirit anyway... we should see beyond that... we should see the real meaning of Christmas... the birth of Jesus Christ. This is what we should celebrate. It's not about presents, food, Christmas tree, Santa and all these things... is about singing carols, about sharing our love with each other.. I believe we forgot whose birthday is and who should recieve gifts... is our Lord's birthday... so if you want to feel good on Christmas give all your love to Jesus and to the people around you... it's more than the most expensive gift you could ever buy. Merry Christmas!

Yes I so totally agree with you, and some. I cannot STAND the seasonal music, and we are assaulted with it at my workplace, just about ready to slit my throat and jab screwdrivers into my ears at the same time. Thank God for iPods. I used to have the Christmas spirit, but all the commercialization has really soured me on it, and the PCing has ruined it also, for God's sake, "happy holidays"? does that include the Fourth of July and Veteran's Day. Dude, when I look at your avatar, I feel like I am looking in a mirror, it is scary.

Imagine how much money is wasted during christmas buying presents for people that dont really need them but you get them just because you have to, so they smile and stick them in a cupboard when you leave and the toys that get played with for one day then forgotten but you had to buy them so you dont look like a cheapskate. One day the world will wake up to this great con trick call Xmas. Its a guilt trip; everyone buys presents because everyone else does, its like some stupid rumour that everyone buys into but virtually no one agrees with, they just think everyone else does so they go along with it, and so the delusion goes on decade after decade fueled by greedy corporations and money gets squandered on crap instead of put to good use. the only ones to benefit are the execs at walmart that get a fresh coat of gold on their Lear jets. Its feasting day for Cash Eating Organisms

i'm continuously contained in the Christmas spirit, it is my conventional time of twelve months, i recognize the hustle and bustle of shopping for, ingesting christmas cookies and different candies haha. sorry that you're not any further contained in the spirit. have some spiked eggnog, perchance that'll help! i'd devour your Christmas cookies!!

I don't have the Christmas spirit. It's all about spending money and I don't have any. I'd love to give people gifts, but I can't. Maybe I'll invite someone to dinner.
