This question has already been asked, but I need a bit of a different answer. I have to make a speech for my english class. So... I'm looking for websites that have statistics and laws about this issue. Not so much about opinions....I'm trying to form my own opinion based on facts. Plus, my teacher wants "substance" in my essay.

That could never happen. Being that school and the DMV have nothing to do with each other. Whoever told you all drop outs should loose their license, tell them when people retire they should loose their license. Although I didn't drop out, I know of many people who did. Many because of their living situation at home or personal problems. The Margarette of drop outs, end up going to work full time, therefor needing transportation. To say they should loose their license is ridiculous.

High school dropouts drop out for a reason. No matter the reason what does their drivers licence have to do with it? It's just a way of encouraging kids to stay in school and there are better ways then taking away their freedom. Just think of the kid who has to drop out of school to go to work and feed his family he is already going through enough, why take his drivers licence away when he obviously needs it to get to work?

No, because then how would they earn a living? There are lots of reasons for people to drop out of high school, and not all of them drop out due to laziness. Some people wind up pregnant and want to work to support the child, others need to drop out due to family illness. I'm not saying that it's a good thing to drop out, but there are some understandable reasons. To deny them a driver's license ensures that they wind up penniless and on state aid.

In Georgia, there is a law that revokes licenses of students who drop out of high school. If they've dropped out, they may have lost a part of education that they might find useful on the road (physics does more than you think!). So personally, I totally support the no-license-for-drop-outs rule!
