I can't go to the hospital because no $$ and no insurance. I need to close up this hole, it's the diameter of my thumb. Right now I stuffed the hole with cotton and duct taped it shut.

You need to do what Rambo did in Rambo III. He filled his wound with gunpowder and let it. This sterilized and cauterized it at the same time.

You might want to hit the whiskey pretty hard first, because it's gonna hurt.

I definately wouldn't stuff it with cotton and duct tape it shut. Your asking for trouble there. It could close up with the cotton in it! Then you would be in a bigger mess than you are now. There are free clinics everywhere and Emergency in hospitals has to take you Ins. or not. Especially in this situation. TAke the cotton and duct tape off, just put a bandaid and I hope you put an antiseptic or something because I'm sure a rake is dirty! Tomorrow make some calls and find a free clinic. You really could be in big trouble there. Good Luck!

1. You may need a tetanus shot or booster depending on when your last tetanus was received.

2. You need a medical professional to see the wound, and determine if antibiotics or suturing is needed. the longer you wait, the less likely the will sew it shut, and the more likely it will get infected if not properly treated.

3. Payment plans are done by hospitals all the time. You don't need any money to be seen in the ER, and they will apply for medicaid for you when you go.

4. If you haven't noticed, the bottom of the foot is a painful place to injure since it sounds like you normally walk. Take care of your foot and good luck!

Have someone else do it for you, as the angle isn't good.
Wash with soap/water, & take some ibuprofen for pain. Elevate; sterilize a needle & have a medically-oriented friend come sew your foot shut.
There are Urgent Care Centers that treat non-insured people. Plus, hospitals are required to care for you, if you go in.
Good luck.

Many hospital emergency departments are required to treat you regardless of ability to pay. My advice is to get the care you need and then speak to a financial counselor at the hospital about having the bill written off as "charity care". Most non-profit hospitals are required to provide a certain amount of charity care each year.

If this is true then wait until you will have to amputate your own foot for free... Any emergency room would of treated you within the first 12 hours of any laceration. No one can be turned down for any reason in the emergency room...

O.K. you have to go to the emergency room, they cannot refuse to help you. You will just have to work out a payment plan, You have to get a tetnus shot because you can get blood poisioning, lockjaw, and probably alot more. And you have to get that thing sewn up where they can give you something for pain.....

I would say go to the Hospital. That is your safest place to be. Go to the state hospital they probably will not charge you an arm and a leg.
