1- Could be if you have a wireless mouse then the batteries inside your mouse are low or completely dead, time to change them.

2- Could be if you have an older mouse with a roll ball that it is very very dirty and the sensors will no longer work because of all the accumulated dirt on them, try cleaning the mouse if you know how or try a different mouse to see if the mouse is the problem.

3-You may have a virus or malware running on your computer , if you run windows xp you could try "restore point" to a previous setting when the mouse worked fine. (to get there click: start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore, restore my computer to an earlier time, and then pick a previous highlighted date when your mouse use to work fine and follow the instructions.

4- You could also try this: While your computer is running unplug your mouse and wait 10 seconds and then re-plug the mouse and see if that works.

5-If none of the above works the least desirable thing to do is to re-install your operating system.

hope this help , good luck

when that happens to me, it is because the battery on my laptop ran down.
So you turn it off by the button and than turn the laptop on again with the electric plugged in.
Than it would go back. If that's what you have.
When the power runs out my pointer and all freezes.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
