You're probably using Microsoft Windows and have installed a lot of malware. Run your antivirus software and remove all the viruses.

Download superantispyware if you don't have any anti-virus software.

There could be several possible reasons, some explainable, some not.

1) Try hooking up a different mouse to the computer...... for some strange reason my mouse cursor kept freezing on me every couple of hours last week when setting up my new computer I'm using right now......... tried everything, including uninstalling the mouse driver and re-starting the computer. Stuck a different mouse in, and the computer worked fine for 23hrs straight without a glitch.

2) If it's a traditional mouse with a ball inside, unscrew the base, give the ball a wipe down........... then stick your finger inside the mouse to loosen stuff up. Usually there are 2 black bars inside which spin (what the ball pushes around to move the cursor)... and there'll nearly always be some sort of fluff / crud stuck around it, which can be worked free with a fingernail.

3) Either your computer is just plain old & slow, or it's being bogged down with Spyware and similar such crap........... try the online system optimisation scan @ PC Pitstop which will flag up any problems with your computer http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/

Usually that is a mouse with dirty balls. Turn your mouse over, unscrew the bottom, take out the ball and blow out any dust that may have accumulated inside.
Then replace the ball and secure it then there should be nothing obstructing the ball from rolling smoothly.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
