I AM A JAMAICAN AND I LIVE IN JAMAICA. I THINK THAT JAMAICAN CHRISTMAS IS VERY SPECIAL DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS WARM AND DEFINITELY NOT FREEZING, WE GIRLS CAN STILL WEAR OUR REVEALING AND SKIMPY CLOTHES.ON THE EVE OF CHRISTMAS WE HAVE A LARGE PARTY CALLED GRAND MARKET- HELD IN THE MAIN TOWN OF ALL 14 PARISHES .ON GRAND MARKET NIGHT YOU EITHER GO SHOPPIN OR PARTYING. IT IS A JAMAICAN NORM THAT EVERYONE IS EXPECTED TO BE THERE.
WE HAVE A FAMOUS DRINK CALLED SORREL- THIS PLANT IS ONLY HARVESTED IN THE CHRISMAS SEASONS.WE PAY KEEN ATTENTION TO THE BIRTH OF CHRIST AND WE DEEM IT VERY IMPORTANT.DURING THIS SEASON THERE IS A LOT OF CHARITY PROGRAMMES FOR THE NEEDY PERSONS.IF YOU VISIT JAMAICA YOU WILL KNOW IT IS CHRISTMAS BECAUSE EVERY HOUSE, BUISNESS PLACES AND HOTELS ARE DECORATED WITH WHAT WE CALL PEPPER LIGHT( IT IS NOT MADE FROM PEPPER)- IT IS SOME MINIATURE BULBS ATTACHED TO STRINGS AND WHEN PLUGGED IN EXHIBITS COLOURFUL LIGHTS.ALSO NOT ONLY CHRISTMAS TREES BUT NORMAL TREES ARE DECORATED. IN THE MAIN TOWNS MENTIONED ABOVE THERE IS A LARGE DECORATED CHRISTMAS TREE PRESENT.
OH I WISH FOR ALL MANKIND A WARM JAMAICAN CHRISTMAS TIME
