I have 3 Goldfish (Ryukins?) and a Plecostomus (them algae eaters)..

i feed my goldfish on a daily basis, feeding a pinch each time. At night when i feed or drop a algae wafer for Plecostomus, all the goldfish starts to attack and peck away at the wafer, even if i feed the two at the same time. Is it healthy for them to eat that much and should i be concerned? suggestions? help?

I dont think they stop eating reguardless. I also gave my girlfriend 3 Ryukins and one of them just eats and eats. It seems bloated and just floats around instead of swimming.

goldfish should be fed at the most 2 times per day. as far as them eating the waffer its not going to hurt them. you can buy them a algae block to put inside the tank for them to graze on for the day. maybe this will help to stop them from eating the waffers. i feed my orandas twice a day soaked flakes in the morning and fresh vegetables for them to nibble on during the day and soaked krill at night. as far as your little guy floating its called swim bladder its caused from the fish having to much air intake. to help him recover from this offer him frozed, shelled, cooked peas. feed him this for a week or so then when he is better offer him peas once a day. if you feed him flakes or pellets make sure to soak them first to get the air out of them. also make sure you do your regular water changes. try this method im sure you will find it will work. remember, goldish are pigs! so try the frozen algae stick and lets hope that will stear them away from the waffers. good luck! i hope this helps you...jewels

Try to keep the goldfish away from the algae eater when you feed him. Put the algae eater in one of those little nets and feed him while he's in there so the goldfish can't get at him or the food. This will keep the goldfish nice and fit as well as the algae eater.

You shouldn't feed them too much. Feed them once or twice a day. If you feed then too much, the excess food will form algae. Maybe you should put the Plecostomus in a different bowl.

goldfish are kinda like sheep they will munch away all day if you let them and overfeeding is bad for them and the water.

Don't be concerned. Goldfish don't overeat, they will stop if they are full. They just have big appetites.
