Christmas is not in anyway related to Christ yet it is celebrated falsely as Jesus' birth. It is rooted in paganism. Even the 'mas' part in Christmas is comprises of prayers for forgiveness for the dead, does Christ need our forgiveness? The bible tells us to stay away from all false gods and not even to mention their names yet Christians try to celebrate Jesus birthday (a lie) with pagan worship, is it just me or is something wrong with that. Or is it that we cannot give up everything for Christ, including our traditions?

This is not bashing Christians if you were to go to another culture were they worshiped the devil but then later decided to take the devil out of the picture and put in Christ would we think that is an acceptable change

It is funny how you ask a simple question with a different point of view and other Christians use abusive language and hostile comments to in their replies, that is sad :(

One of the main reason's why Christmas is celebrated when it is, is because of the pagan roots of the time of the year. Similarly to what happened with Halloween. This time of the year as you may well know was mostly used to offer sacrifices to the Scandinavian gods to celebrate the days getting longer. All through out history Christians believed that there was a need to try to eclipse pagan worship and try to put a Christian spin on things instead of trying to stay set apart.
Mostly I believe that we celebrate this holiday out of tradition to what has been established as the Christian Calendar. We celebrate the season of advent as the promised coming of the Lord, a reminder of when He came to earth and to look forward to His second coming again.

I am not going to get into the argument of whether or not Christ was born on Christmas Ever or not. As a Christian, I can only answer that the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of the Christ that was sent to us to later die on the cross for our sins. Christmas IS the christian celebration of Christs birth. It is a monumental time in the Christian life and one to be defiitely celebrated.
Throughout the history, gifts were not always a part of the celebration, but some aspect of giving to others was. Huge dinners in castles with all invited happened, the fact that this holiday was the same to everyone, not just the higher levels of society, in fact the point of Jesus being born in a stable brought to a point the fact that Christ was born to parents that were very poor. Yes the Three Kings brought gifts but that tradition has waned and become important again through out the centuries. Today, to most Christians we are reaching back to the true meaning of Christmas and that is being together with loved ones and sharing this wonderful time, the beauty of people loving and giving to people.
How people decorate too is dependent on each persons beliefs. It is a real issue to discuss and even get into conflict over these days, which makes me sad, as the color and sparkle of the decorations along with the lights only bring a better idea of celebration which is the main point, celebration of the Christ Child.

Yes Christmas is an old pagan holiday. When Rome adopted Christianity as the new state Religion, they used the old pagan holiday. Many Christmas traditions are rooted in the old pagan religion.
Ignorance is bliss, as many people refuse to be live this fact.
No one knows when Jesus was born but I'm sure he would love a new PS2 and some spiked egg-nogg!!

A lot of things we all do everyday, has it's roots in "Paganism". For example, a knife was used by pagans to sacrifice people to their particular god. Therefore, knives are pagan and shouldn't be used. - This is how silly and juvenile this debate about Christmas and paganism is !!! That was THEN ... and NOW is NOW !!! A genuine, true Christian worships God in both, Spirit and Truth; therefore, the "paganism" has absolutely no bearing on whether or not, it's wrong to celebrate Christmas. When all is said and done, the real culprits are those who serve their gods, such as, $, sex, drugs, careers, intellectualism, cigarettes, self, etc., etc., ... so; Christmas isn't any real big deal!

Oh goodness! How many people are gonna ask this same question??? It originally was a pagan holiday, and they celebrated it as "the birthday of the sun" (you know, when the days get shorter, and all) and when Christians came to witness to them and told them about the Son of God, it was later converted entirely to CHRISTmas. Oh yeah, and it doesn't matter it if was originally a pagan holiday - No one REALLY knows Jesus' birthday, but we're celebrating Jesus - that's what COUNTS. And to me, I frankly don't care about presents. Lots of folks celebrate Christmas - sometimes not even Christians - so they try to make it a more secular gift-giving holiday. Anyway, that's my answer.

Everyone has their own opinions, including you. Christmas is a mixture of old traditions and Christian religion. I don't know of anyone who actually worships Christmas trees or Santa Claus, so I don't know where your worship bit comes from, unless you're trying to say that Jesus is false. As far as being Jesus' actual birthday, a day was selected to observe it. Period. I don't think it matters whether it was his actual birthday or not. For all anyone cares, we could just call it "International Jesus Recognition Day". Maybe that would make those who can't deal with simple situations be able to cope with the day.

Well... Christians celebrate Jesus birth, not Christmas.... it's impossible to celebrate something that has no content. If you do not celebrate Jesus birth, than what? nothing else happened on 25th of December so we shall all focus on Jesus, not on gifts, Christmas tree, food and things like these, but on sharing our love with each other and most of all giving all our love to Jesus. This is what real Christians should do on 25th of December. We should thank God for sending us His Son to live and die so our sins be forgiven.

because, nobody knows the real birth date of Christ, the Catholics decided to pick this date because it was close to the day they think he was born. it was also a pagan holiday, so they thought that by celebrating on this day, the people would forget about the pagan holiday and celebrate Christ in place of it. which worked out good, but their are many types of Christians who put down the catholic tradition of Christmas. my god be with them.

In the Christian religion we need Christ to ask God for our forgiveness because no other human is worthy enough to ask GOD for our forgiveness this is were the saying "Jesus Christ our saviour" comes from. By honouring Jesus birth is also honouring Jesus whom we need to ask GOD for our forgiveness.
The presents should not be given out on Christmas day but on Jan 6th because that is the day the 3 wise men came bearing there gifts to the baby Jesus and it is this that is simulated every year by all Christians.

We celebrate Christmas not only because it's a holiday to come together, and be a family and give and receive. That's not the main reason Christians celebrate it. And we do recognize that Jesus Christ was born on that day. People who wouldn't understand our religion would have different views. And we don't know everything that happen so many centuries back when Jesus Christ was born, that's were the bible comes in. You have your views, we have ours, and so do other religious people. You can question it, but I'm pretty sure Christians have their answers, and you would think other wise. What you believe, you believe. Just have respect for people who believe other wise!
