Take another bulb, hold it with a oven mitt or heavy towel and put the metal end into the metal end that is stuck in the socket, push and turn until it screws out. Make sure you put an appliance bulb back in socket , a regular bulb will not last, it is not made to take the heat.

Unplug the oven. Use Needle-nosed pliers to remove the metal base. Of course I have heard of people jamming a potato in the socket base and removing it that way, but I wouldn't recommend it. Hope this helps.Wow! I can't believe both things were entered as I was typing! lol

thats gonna be tough. In the process, that oven door will be open, wich means the switch for the light will naturally be in the on position.
try putting on the longest pair of " rubber kitchen gloves " you can find, take a wine kork or some thing that is plyable, stick it into the center of the old bulb body and turn it counter clock wise.

OR get some one to help you pull the stove forward enough to pull the plug in back, then you cansafely use what ever neans you have to get that base out of there.

pull the oven out from the wall and unplug it, after you make sure ther is no electricity to it , get some needle nose pliers , see if you can grab a side of the metal and try to turn it to unscrew it out.

I have built in ovens so that are hard wired, no plug. Simply shut off the breaker at the fuse panel. Much easier than moving a stove.

first unplug stove and cut the gas off. use needle nose pliers. just try to turn the metal to the left. you might need another needle nose plier. hold pliers opposite each other. turn to the left. go slow. needlenose pliers have long thin pinchers, they are skinny and will do the job.

never heard of this potato thing till I came here..(30 plus year electrician) needle nose pliars....smaller type pry out one edge of socket of bulb....from base...(OH yes unplug oven) after prying it out twist to the left till it starts to rip the base out or turn it out....either way will work...(done this about 100 times)

Pliers are the best way, but a potato may work... MAKE SURE THE OVEN HAS NO POWER CONNECTED!!!
