It may be that mistletoe is romantic and so makes the kiss "mean something." For men, quite often, sex and kissing don't have to mean anything other than the shared physical pleasure they bring. But for women, if a kiss (or anything else) actually means something, then she will be aroused by it. When you kiss your wife under the mistletoe you are telling her she (if nothing else) desereves romance. When you just "do her" she may be interpreting that to mean she's just being used as a piece of meat to accommodate physical pleasure rather than as a meaningful event in her life.
