You will need a router. If your cable is direct this probably won't work but if it access through a modem it should be fine. Get a wireless router and plug the ethernet cable from the cable modem to the router and then install the wireless. Then you need a PCMCIA card for your notebook to access wireless. In total, this should only cost about $150-$200.

We had a Linksys and a Netgear router and that they the two went undesirable after a whilst. we've switched to AT&T U-Verse for our internet provider, telephones, and cable television. it relatively is been particularly large going this way with one medium sized receiver field. internet Cable with a good number of wires is multiple hardship, so i do no longer particularly think of it relatively is nicely surely worth the money whilst their are different possibilities and you get the comparable effects. yet we've surely tried out the two strategies. We had Comcast Cable with wires in all places, it completely sucked and you need to on no account get a customer provider rep on the telephone once you had a technical project. sometimes our Comcast ethernet field would not %. up a sign in any respect. ComCast exchanged routes with RoadRunner and it has on no account been the comparable. we are lots happier having executed away with the Netgear and the Linksys Routers and switching to the AT&T U-Verse field and 2Wire Connection adapters. multiple human beings in our community are changing to the AT&T U-Verse kit and it relatively is at present extra low value and quicker than what our Comcast Cable connection became charging us for awful provider. Plus this provider is corresponding to what RoadRunner was --- rapid and sturdy! And our U-Verse field sits on the backside of the pc table and would not take in lots room. If the gadget is going down, you turn it off, go away it off a jiffy and turn it back on, then reboot your computers. we are very happy with the U-Verse digital plan, distinctly by using fact the analog compenets are approximately to be completely phased out in the U.S. each and every thing is going to be digital tremendously quickly. i think it relatively is in actuality a rely of selection. desire it relatively is of a few help to you! happy holiday trips to you!

If you have the wireless router already then all you need is a wireless NIC card for the laptop.
