Beatles without a doubt. There has never been a band before or since, as good as the Beatles. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!

Beatles. Beatles. Beatles. Hands down. The Beatles gave the Stones one of their first hits, "I Wanna Be Your Man." The story goes that they (Lennon/McCartney) went to the corner of a room, finished up the song and gave it to Jagger for them to record. Jagger and Richards - being duly impressed - have said that was part of their motivation to write their own music. So the Beatles definitely had an influence on the Stones, not to mention music in general. Their influence on music is greater than any other act. And while the Stones career has spanned decades (an amazing feat), I personally think they have lost some of their legendary status due to some of the klunkers they released in the 90's. The Beatles legend remains largely intact.

Rolling Stones.
I love John Lennon's solo stuff, but I don't know, for some reason the Beatles just don't get to me as well.
Also, the Rollign Stones' stuff is a lot less overplayed. I think I liked the Beatles at some point, but after always hearing their songs a million times, their music just annoys me now.

Beatles. They wrote songs that will still be played 100 years from now. What did the Stones do?
