Technically, of course, when you get zapped, it's not "static" electricity. Static electricity is caused by the separate of materials wherein electrons are moved from one material to the other, causing an inbalance in charge and the generation of an electric field:

When you get zapped, the electrons moved, so they weren't "static" during the zap.

Moisture is conductive, so the charges can be dissipated or bled away on humid days.

I know all about it. I live where it is so dry I''m almost used to getting shocked everyday of my life. Shocking my dog, getting shocked when I get out of the car, feeling the shock on my jacket as I take it off. It is so fun sometimes like when I was little I would get under my covers and you could see the electricity on your pajamas and the covers. I think it is pretty much just dry air as mentioned before. It can be fun but usually it is so annoying shocking each other as you shake hands or touch anything metal. Happens a hundred times a day around here. I even try to avoid getting shocked but it gets me anyways.

It is a build-up of an electrical charge. This happens when two different substances rub against each other.

Why can you feel it in dry air: because the charge will be higher, much higher in fact, as dry air will not remove the charge from your body. Air is an insulator, unlike the water vapor you find in humid air.

Hey, Well air dry if that implies blow dry honestly is worse in your hair than towel drying due to the fact that blow drying places warmness to your hair which makes it dry due to the fact that it is sizzling and the warmness will take all the oil out of it which isn't well in your hair. Towel drying is larger in your hair due to the fact that it does now not make it dry and while you positioned the towel to your hair it wont smash it. But if you want your hair to appear glossy in many instances blow drying it's not too dangerous after which for those who straighten it it is going to appear relatively glossy. So to deliver all of it in combination for those who desire more fit and not more dry hair however now not allways very glossy towel dry it. If you desire dryer hair however desire it to appear glossy and suppose delicate then air dry it. Sorry it is kinda complicated lol :) Hope I helped even though! :P

you can't feel static electricity itself.

You can feel dry air, or you can feel your hair moving because of static electricity, or feel the zap when you touch something.

I am sure wikipedia will tell you more on static electricity.
