That would be difficult due to the number of factions, particularly religious factions.
What would be needed would be someone who could appeal to both Sunni and Shi'ite factions but also reach out to the non-religious elements of the population. I see the gulf between Sunni and Shi'ite as being particularly difficult.
It should be noted, however, that the vast majority of Iraqi people are not violent and are prepared to accept neighbors with differing religious views. It is the extremists who are causing the violence, and somehow they have to either be eliminated or neutralized in order for the violence to stop.
Some of the more extreme factions have in the past on their own stopped their violent actions, but I can't say if this has lasted in the face of continuing violence.

The violence between the waring factions in Iraq are fighting because of religious differences. They have been fighting each other for thousands of years. A great governmental leader would not be able to stop it but a Great religious leader could.

no, because they are a factionalized people. It took complete despotism to keep the basketcase under control under Saddam and that was with the minority in control. I think they need some form of a "united states" of Iraq with strong local control and a weaker national government much like the US started out as.

The majority might rally behind a strong leader, but the violence won't stop. It will decrease considerably, however, when the U.S. gets out of the country.

Doubtfully because one strong leader is not going to stop the radical people that control the terrorists and create the violence in the first place. and its not true that muslims are the most violent people on earth, because islam is really a peacefull religion at its core. plus, if someone was shooting at you all day, you'd probaly want a gun to shoot back.

Saddam did it using disgusting violence yes but he did it.If we could make a former Bhatist, with experience under Saddam, loyal to the US interest that country could be cleaned up.
Yes it would be violent but what's it now?And then the Americans and coalition forces loosing lives. At least that would stop.
Let a dictator kill all yihadi's,try democracy later.

Nope, the violence will never stop there. They have always been this way and there has always been war there for thousands of years. No one will ever make them change their views. The only thing we should do is let them all kill themselves. That's all they want to do anyway, is die. Sacrifice themselves. Let them do it. Just don't involve the rest of the world.

No violence never stops. There may be less of it but it will never stop. People are always going to have prejudices and someone will always act on those prejudices. That's life....

No because most of the violence is because of Iran and Syria sending in terrorists.
