Dreft is fine, but I used regular detergent (Tide, whatever) on cloth diapers for both my kids with no problems. The important thing is to rinse the detergent out of the diapers. I think I always had the diapers go through two rinse cycles.

there are people that will tell you that you HAVE to use baby detergent, and there are others that will tell you it doesnt matter what you use....

it all depends on how your babys bottom reacts to the detergent....some have really sensitive skin and the fragrance and dyes in the detergent can cause them to get rashes.....

dreft is good (but its a bit on the expensive side)...but many other brands make soaps that are "free and clear" of dyes and other chemicals that may cause a reaction on sensitive skin...some of these brands are: ALL, ARM and HAMMER, CHEER, METHOD (target brand), PUREX, TIDE, and WISK

the only thing i suggest is that you get a liquid detergent NOT powder.....powder detergents tend to not wash out of the clothes like they should!

I used Dreft, but I was told by my daughter's doctor that you only have to use it until they're 3 months old. then you can use a regular detergent. :)
