The male and female cardinal go from one window to the next jumping from tree limbs into the window, they go over the neighbors window and do the same thing. This has gone on for a year.

Some stores sell decals in the shape of a hawk, this keeps the birds away from your windows. Lots of birds see the reflection of the sky in windows and fly into them.

Cardinals are extremely territorial. I have seen them do this with car mirrors and windows. They are trying to drive away "the other bird". Decals may or may not work. It is a bit unusual for the female to do it. I have only seen males do this before.

Ka'De and ke_su both provide sturdy ideas. yet i recognize how perplexing it is, and what a difficult habit it is to end. they're in contact of their personal meditated image, so if the window isn't in an glaring area, attempt taking a bar of Ivory cleansing cleansing soap and rubbing all of it over the window. (sure! cleansing cleansing soap your own window! it is going to sparkling off later!) this would shrink the meditated image, and the heady scent and texture will confuse the chicken. The CD idea wight artwork, too -- yet i'd wager you'll favor some. have you ever stated that it is in effortless words at a particular time of day? if so, it is in all likelihood at the same time as the solar is optimal reflective off that window. if you're waiting to do it, position a "solar block" which will deflect the meditated image contained in the approach the time that the chicken assaults. If worse is composed of worse -- employ a cat for "danger-free practices." sturdy success!

Either the birds are seeing their own reflection in the glass and think that another bird is intruding on their territory and they are trying to attack it, OR they are seeing the reflection of the outside world and think your window is an extention to it. You need to put something on your window (decals of some sort) so the birds can tell that there is a barrier there, or close blinds or curtains.

Could be any number of reasons

The bird could be sick - Avian flu, West Nile, any number of bird diseases can sometimes make them act goofy. Check with your local animal control.

Territory - Bird might see it's reflection as a rival or potential mate.

Sky - Bird sees reflection of the sky in the window.

Cognitively challenged - The bird might not have a full sixpack in it's head.

If you hang a birdhouse out there, they'll stop flying into your window. I don't know why, but this works.

Perhaps they are practicing for auditions to the "Jackass" television program.
