from my own experience it took about 10 days of bleeding. 3-4 days were very heavy pasing clots 1 day in paticular may be increadably heavy (using several pads in an hour. i bled heavily for an hour or so with severe pain had to sit in a bath as towels were usless and pain was unbearable) and painful. take pain killers and use a hotwater bottle it helps ease the pain. (you may notice that you will pass larger clots over the next day or so)
the rest will be like a period and will eventually ease off.

if bleeding heavily for for several hours ( going through more than 4-6 towels in a 2 hr period you need to call the doctor)

if you start to feel like you have the flu, feel really faint or have bled heavily and feel dizzy etc. you need to see a doctor or go to hospital, it could mean you have an infection and need a dnc to clean out the womb and be given antibiotics or you may need a blood transfusion ( these are unlikely to happen but watch out for it.)

basically you should rest up and keep your fluids up.
when it has actually happened and you have fully misscarried i suggest you see a councellour. ( i didnt think i needed to but i went any way and it helped an awful lot)

if you have any more questions e-mail me.

When I miscarried, I had a D and C. The only other choice was to "deliver" the fetus, which I refused to do (I was at 5 mos.). I would speak w/your doctor again. The bleeding should be monitored, shouldn't it? Just dealing w/it on your own at home doesn't sound right at all. I'm sorry about your loss. I understand the emotional pain.

How far a long were you? It could go on for a few weeks. Keep your doctor up to date if it gets to heavy for too long, you could still need a DNC done. I don't understand why the doctor didn't do one to be safe. Good Luck!

You need to call you dr. again .. I would advise a D and C ... It will stop the bleeding, clots are not good .. wear a pad, not tampons. Take good care of yourself, your body has been through a lot .. CALL YOUR DOCTOR!
