I dont mean to be gross, but recently I started shaving my pubic area, and I am having some problems. Well, the area is becoming darker and then I have a bump on the side that is swollen and filled with pus.. *I dont mean to be gross, I am just being honest* I am not sexually active so, there s not a chance of it being an STD or something. I only started shaving down there bc I though that, that was the in thing to do. Now, the hair is growing back and it is itchy. Has this ever happened to anybody else? If so, what did you do? I honestly think that I have sensitive skin, and that is causing me to react so badly to shaving.. I keep my razors clean, I use shaving cream and I switch a diff. razor each time I have shaved. What is wrong with me? Honest answers please!

Absolutely! That happened to me when I started shaving there. The ITCHING GOES AWAY eventually but until then you can put deodorant on the shaved part and that will help to reduce itching and ingrown hairs. The bump sounds like a bad ingrown hair which you could try exfoliating or squeezing (depending on your pain tolerance). I noticed the area becomes darker as well and I was given the reason once but I don't remember it. If I do I will edit this answer. If you have a problem with it becoming darker you may want to try other hair removal options like hair removal cream, electrolysis (ouch), laser hair removal (ouch but worth it), or waxing (kill me now).

Oh honey, there is nothing wrong with you. I personally hate shaving down there - because I've had this exact problem! There really is no need to shave the whole area, just the bikini line will do.

It has nothing to do with sensitive skin and everything to do with it being a highly sensitive area. First of all, the terrible itching and any redness is the hair growing back. The bump is an ingrown hair.

This will be gross - best thing to do is squeeze the pus out and try to dig out the ingrown hair. Sorry, I said it would be gross.

Let all the hair grow back in (or at least until the itching stops) - then if you really want to be trimmed down there, go to a salon for a waxing. It's much safer, lasts longer and doesn't produce ingrown hairs.

For now, put some mosturizing lotion on every day after the shower and when needed. Try to keep dry and cool.

Shaving will usually cause bumps, which can get puss. Hairs will get 'ingrown' and then get a small infection, and basically make 'zit like' bumps.

When the hair grows back it itches like CRAZY! Walmart carries these little bikini razors with a little comb and a moisturizing strip, and it's under 2 bucks for 3 of them. I've found these work really well, and in the same section you'll find bikini shave gel that helps to stop the razor bumps.

The longer you shave, the more used to it you'll be, and the itching should stop, but it can take awhile. The most effective and least problematic way of removing the hair is to have it waxed, but bikini waxing can be pricey.

If I were you, since you're not sexually active and just did it because you thought it was the in thing, I'd just let it grow back. The itching will stop and the bumps will go away in a week or two.

It is ingrown hair that is the problem, a result of shaving.
You are not meant to shave there, and it will be quite itchy until it grows back a certain amount.
Stop shaving, use good hygeine, and see your ob/gyn if the infected hair follicles don't heal.
Call a Christian bookstore & ask what book they would recommend to learn about your body as it goes through growth changes. That way you will avoid the freakish, abnormal things that some of the more liberal books choose to include in an effort to pass weirdness off as normal.
It sounds like you do not have an open, close relationship with a reasonable, well informed older woman such as a Mom or Aunt, that's a shame.( I am female, despite Yahoo!s messing up my avatar).
Saying a prayer for you-do get educated, as you need to know the basics in order to take good care of yopurself.

The bump that is swollen and filled with pus is probably an ibgrown hair. My solution was to stop shaving my pubic area. It actually is much more comfortable to have trimmed hair than to have no hair at all. All of the problems you mentioned are normal. The itch is the hair growing back. Your skin is just sensitive like it should be there. my advice: let it grow back, but keep it trimmed. Be prepared to be really itchy for up to two weeks while it starts growing back

Well of course they are razor burn bumps... don't worry, I get those every time I shave unless it is a brand spanking new razor! Lol. They could also cause ingrown hairs to happen.. and let me just tell you those suck! A good idea would to be using expensive brand shaving cream and a good razor... also if you still get the bumps I would suggest holding a warm washclothe to the area and if you that it is an ingrown hair it is best to squeeze it until the hair pops out in its right place. I know it sounds disgusting but that's the price we pay for being girls! Booo! Lol :) Good luck!

There is a product called bikini bare(it is like an electric shaver) that works really well, but you have to have the hair cut really short before you use it. It won't cause you to itch and it doesn't cause ingrown hairs. Also be sure to shave 'the way the hair grows', not against it...that causes ingrown hairs. I have been shaving for 10 years and rarely do I ever have a problem anymore. Good Luck!

Firstly if not for religious reasons, why shave? - take a trim if you wish but shaving can aggravate sensitive skin - a hair follicle might be infected or ingrown - apply plain old Vaseline - inexpensive and is a water barrier - works well on baby's bum so would work well in the pubic area! Always wash hands very well before applying

The puss filled thing could just be a really bad ingrown hair. Im not sure how old you are, but for shaving the pubic area (great for legs & under arms too) I suggest "COOCHY" you can get it @ Ambiance.com if you do not have a local ambiance store. Or maybe even check your local adult store. But it makes the hair growing in softer, prevents razor burn & takes the hair longer to grow back.

The longer you use it, the better it works. I LOVE IT! It makes it a little easier to deal with the hassel of maintaining that area...BUT we gotta keep our shrubs lookin nice ladies!

GOOD LUCK!

P.S. Hair dosen't stik that mush outta swim suits but if you are worried about that(I'm on a swim team and I know I don't want people to be seein that from the blocks) put your suit on stand in front of a mirror with and use sisors to cut any hair you see sticking out.
