Depending on the age of the guy(and yourself), find out what his favorite hobby is. Say if it were golf, tell him that you have him two gifts, show up wearing nothing but your favorite overcoat. Once inside, wait a few minutes until you are ready for the unveiling, and show him his golf balls and his "other" present. He will be very pleased. My girlfriend did this for me during our first Christmas as a couple. p.s. We're married now.

I would take him to a store and go through the men section and see what he stops and looks at or talk to it about him what he likes and all that stuff..

Get him something he enjoys - if he talks about sports, a particular sport - get him something to do with his favorite sport.
